Cables.ie was founded in the autumn of 2005 and the company is based in Cork. Our online Shop went online on the 1st of December of the same year. Our philosophy is to provide a retail opportunity specialised in all sorts of cables primarily to the Irish market, but we also cover the UK. Our focus is to provide a budget product line as well as offering a premium range particular for HiFi and Home Cinema cables.

A bit of history and company background
Well it started as it usually does. Two guys sitting together talking, in this case Colm and Paul, about there little home projects and discovering that there no place that is offering all the cables and little bits and pieces you would require to finally get that CAT 5 network going as well as getting all of the Home Cinema and Audio/Video equipment connect the way it should be.
Starting from there, we registered the domain, some shopping cart software and sourced some suppliers and after two month the first cables.ie website went live online. Little did we know about SEO and SEM nor were we pushing it really, it was just a little pet project. About a year later we made the decision to change you shopping cart software to what you see today to stay in touch with technology and ecommerce development. In November of 2007 the site was "re-launched" and about 2 1/2 month late things really took off. Today we have in excess of 2000 customers with about 10 new once every day coming from anywhere in Canada and Australia and anywhere in between. However, our main focus is Ireland but we are gaining ground in the UK as well.

... and what's next ....
We already launched a sister site www.rechargeable.ie where we sell almost every battery under the sun. In spring of 2009 we launched www.eiretronic.com and www.cablegear.co.uk.
