With most or all of the work on the Category 8 standard finally in the rearview mirror, the Telecommunications Industry Association (TIA) recently issued a call for interest for the upcoming revision of the Balanced Twisted-Pair Telecommunications Cabling and Components Standard. The company says its new Slim-line 28 AWG Ethernet patch cables are engineered for high-density patching applications. Leading up to the currently taken place IDF (Intel Developer Forum) in San Francisco, Renesas has announced their 4-Port-USB-3.0-Hubcontroller µPD720210. However, there are no plans to supply any of it's customers with it for the moment. A company spokes man said as long as as the chip as not been certified by the USB-IF it would not be appropriate to do so particular as Renesas is a member of the Standardization group.
Renesas is expecting the certification program to start in the forth quarter and will subsequently start to sell the chip to the hub manufactures.
